repa(i)rationsis a work in perpetual progress.

building upon that which was
created by my maternal great grandmother and grandmother, i continue adding new pieces to the quilt in an attempt to heal the past, for myself and for those that came before me.

the Yoruba have an annual festival
during which a chosen person wears a head and body mask made of multicolored strips of cloth. new cloth is added each year, in honor of the Egungun, the ancestors; their blessings are then felt through the whirling winds created by the mask wearer’s ecstatic dance.

it is to this tradition that i pay homage.

the pigeon goddess meditates is part of my alter/altar series.

i create these works to illustrate the place where the ego falls away and is replaced by spirit.

this piece is a prayer to ancestors that have been, that are unknown, that are yet to come.

...for i am the first and the last...

i created these yoni amulets as part of the pigeon goddess meditates.

they are intended to honor the sacred mother that connects and is within us all.

....$25 each.......as always, custom work is available, prices will vary.

four dresses

is a painting of a mixed media installation i completed not long after my maternal grandmother passed away...i spent a part of every year at her home in rural north carolina...the clothes line is one of several  images i associate with her...
